Leeuwarden, Netherlands – 2023
Fûns Skjinne Fryske Enerzjy (FSFE), a leading organization in sustainable energy in Friesland, announced today their participation in the LIFE project GR4SS. This innovative project, located at the Energy Campus in Leeuwarden, focuses on the development of a verge grass digester, a groundbreaking method for green energy production.
The GR4SS project is an initiative where verge grass, collected from municipalities, the province, Rijkswaterstaat, and companies, is converted into biomethane, bio-CO2, sustainable substrate for potting soil, and a fertilizer substitute. This development promises a significant leap forward in the production of renewable energy and sustainable agricultural products, strengthening the circular economy within the region.
FSFE’s participation in the project underscores their commitment to innovative and sustainable energy solutions in Friesland. “Our involvement in GR4SS demonstrates our dedication to supporting sustainable and local energy initiatives. This project is an excellent example of how regional collaboration can lead to groundbreaking sustainable solutions,” says Jan Harmen Witzenburg of FSFE.
