Leeuwarden, Netherlands – December 22, 2023
Bermgras ECL BV has officially submitted a permit application for the construction of a verge grass digester (GR4SS). This digester has the capacity to process 60,000 tons of plant-based raw materials annually.
The planned digester will convert verge grass and other plant-based materials into biomethane, bio-CO2, sustainable substrate for potting soil, and fertilizer substitute. This initiative contributes to the renewable energy goals in the Netherlands.
“The submission of this permit application marks a significant moment for the GR4SS project and for the Leeuwarden region. With this plant-based digester, we can produce substantial amounts of biomethane, which will have a positive impact on the local economy and the environment,” stated Raymond Roeffel of Bermgras ECL BV.
The advanced technology used in the digester is not only efficient in processing plant-based raw materials but also minimizes the ecological footprint, making it an exemplary project in the sustainable energy industry.
